I'd similar to upgrade my Acer Aspire 3690-2023 laptop. It has this Intel 940 chipset, and then is it uniform with Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile CPUs? (Socket M). I'd like to supplant the stock CPU with a Core 2 Duo Mobile T 7600. Also, does my chipset support PC2-5200 DDR2-667 MHz and I'm stuck with PC2-4200 DDR2-533 MHz? Intel has tons of info and support for newer mobile chipsets such equally the 945GM, but the quality of information on the 940GML is atrocious. This community is my only hope, and so please help me...

Thank you in advance! :)

Chances are that yous will not exist able to upgrade from a Celeron Chiliad (that's what it has, correct?) to a Cadre 2 Duo. If I retrieve, I practise non call back the current chipset you lot have will support a c2d, plus there are different power requirements for the c2d.

Chances are that you will not be able to upgrade from a Celeron M (that's what information technology has, correct?) to a Core 2 Duo. If I call back, I do non remember the current chipset you have will back up a c2d, plus in that location are dissimilar ability requirements for the c2d.

Chances are that you will not exist able to upgrade from a Celeron M (that's what it has, right?) to a Core 2 Duo. If I recall, I do not retrieve the electric current chipset you have will support a c2d, plus at that place are different ability requirements for the c2d.

I just found out that I can in fact, supersede the crappy Celeron 1000 with any Intel socket One thousand CPU--equally long as it is 533 MHz Bus. So the T7600 is out. I have to cull something like the older Core Solo, Core Duo or earlier Core ii Duo. My best option is the Core 2 Duo T5300 1733 MHz 2mb cache. Power requirement is actually less. I read on a laptop lath that a member was able to extend his bombardment life past just swapping the Celeron M for a C2D, his laptop is the same model every bit mine.

Cheers. ;)

Any give-and-take on whether or non this is true? I have an acer aspire 3690-2672 with either an i943 or an i940, but I'm pretty sure I take i940. I have been looking all over the Internet and I have never read a directly answer whether this is true.

I no longer have that laptop. The only store well-nigh me that had an old Core ii Duo CPU was charging fashion besides much for it considering it was very rare (he also said it would be too difficult to make the swapping and bla bla), and then I just bought a brand new laptop.

Thanks for such a quick reply.

The acer aspire 3690 has been my computer for the past 4 years now (Freshmen to Senior year) and I've had little to no bug with it and it has served all my functions pretty well. I was looking at spending peradventure 40-threescore$ to add new life to it for college. The thing is right now I tin can't really afford to purchase something that won't work or could screw upwards my estimator costing me even more $$$, as I do need a computer. It's for those reason I'one thousand just a fiddling humble about jumping the gun on upgrading to a new processor before I know it will piece of work.

I have a asus a8h hither that has the 940gml chipset. It came with core duo T2050 @1.6ghz 533fsb 2mb enshroud and i upgrade to core ii duo t5500 @ane.66ghz. 667fsb 2mb cache. I run 2 gig ram. 1 card is pc2-4300 (266fsb) and the other is pc2-5300 (333mhz) both run at the slower speed. The extra ram and and 5400rpm 500gb difficult drive greatly improved performance. for day to twenty-four hour period utilize.
